The New Women of China

We are witnessing a new generation of professional women emerging in China: Young millennials and Gen-Zers, aged 20-35, highly educated with high-paying jobs, living in tier 1 and tier 2 cities.

These women are breaking glass ceilings: they represent 46% of the STEM Workforce, 25% of entrepreneurs, and head 55% of new Internet businesses in China. 70% of Chinese startups have at least one woman in a senior role, and out of 130 self-made female billionaires in the world – 85 are from China.

How did this generation come to be, and what can they teach us about gender equality?
